Read reviews for your safari holiday

Posted on August 30, 2015 at 10:09 pm

If you are lucky enough to be able to go on an African Safari holiday then you will probably be spending quite a substantially amount of money and therefore will want it to be as perfect as possible.

There are a large number of safari / game reserves in South Africa and a number of companies that promote them. Before booking any safari holiday, well actually, any holiday you should always read reviews on the accommodation or trip. When it comes to finding reviews, do a quick search on Google and you will be presented with a number of independent sites full of reviews by people that have visited the park you are looking at. Do not be tempted to just believe the reviews on the vendors own website as these may have been falsely created.

If you can, speak to someone that you know that has been on a safari holiday, and if they were happy with it, find out where they stayed.

Good Shot!

Posted on January 28, 2015 at 2:25 pm

Big game hunting was once main attraction of a safari but these days, most of us would rather take aim through the viewfinder of our camera than through the sights of a rifle. While I’d recommend taking it easy with the camera on your trip, you’ll surely want to capture at least some of the magic to relive when you return home.

With the ubiquity of social media these days, you may well want to upload your shots online, so isn’t it worth making sure they stand out from the crowd?

Digital SLR’s may be a tempting choice but they are bulky and expensive. A bridge camera is a great compact alternative, offering good zoom capabilities and better usability. Whatever you go for, get to know your camera’s settings and perhaps get a few photography tips online. You can often get much better results than the cameras auto setting, with a bit of practice.

Posted on September 24, 2014 at 11:30 pm

For many people, a Safari holiday is something that they will only every experience once in their life time. It is by no means a cheap holiday but one that you will never forget and will open your eyes to a world you may not have realised existed.

When choosing which company to book with when going on Safari, you need to ensure that they are reputable and have solid reviews of their service and knowledge. All UK tour operators will only allow you to book through one of their recommended safari guides and will have carried out their own checks prior to recommending it to you.

You may want to ask what their policy is on conserving the animals and area and the safety aspects of the tour as any good travel agent should have this information to hand or be able to get it for you quite quickly.

Always read reviews before booking your Safari holiday

Posted on April 3, 2014 at 3:41 pm

When booking a holiday it is imperative that you read reviews about not only the location and accommodation where you are going to be stopping but also the tour operator you are booking with. This has never been truer than when booking a Safari holiday. Safari holidays can be a tremendously exciting break away, but can also turn in to a disaster if booked through the wrong company. Everything from building work going on at your hotel to lack of safety on the trip has to be a concern. If a safari holiday appears to be extremely cheap compared to others, there is probably a reason for that. Type in the company and the word “reviews” on the internet, to see what other holiday makers have said about them. There may always be unexpected issues when you go away and even the best tour operators sometimes cannot avoid these, but if you find that a lot of people are complaining about the same thing, it may be worth looking elsewhere.

Taking a Safari Holiday

Posted on February 28, 2014 at 10:28 am

A safari holiday can be a great experience, for both you and your family. A safari, in case you didn’t know, is when you travel through land with the intent to either witness or hunt animals in their natural habitat. The word safari originated in east Africa, where the Arabic word ‘safara’, meaning; to travel, was translated into safari, and has since developed to mean what it does today. The most commonly conducted safari nowadays, at least among western visitors to Africa, is to visit a wildlife reserve, and drive around the reserve viewing the various examples of wildlife on display. You can get an idea of what a safari is like by visiting a zoo in Britain where they offer safari style tours of their animals. This pales in comparison to a legitimate safari experience, where you can view animals in their natural habitat, with greater diversity than any zoo, and with real conflict taking place, something you will be unlikely to see with the different species being in separate sections so as to avoid conflict. Conflict is inevitable in the wild, and although distressing to many, it is a reality of existence in the wild.  If seeing real world wildlife outside of TV screen is something which interests you, you should give serious consideration to going on a safari.
