What’s a Holiday like in an African Safari Lodge?

Posted on May 6, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Occasionally safari lodges can cost more than 5 star hotels, so what exactly are the benefits? Well, location is always important and the majority of safari lodges can guarantee beautiful surrounding views of the African wilderness and plenty of fascinating wildlife within close proximity.

You get a real sense of peace and seclusion, and you’re not queuing for food or surrounded by tourists; you’re served and waited on. You can also get you own private pool, while the lodges themselves are often extremely comfortable. When you wake up to have a breakfast brought to you, you can start a day on a safari, looking out for elephant, lions and rhino, while a tasty dish is waiting for you when you return.

Luxury lodges are all about having a different level of service, and that along with the superb location often means that prices are high, but you’ll certainly be guarantee unique accommodation, and it will be absolutely nothing like your previous stays at hotels and complexes.

Best time to go on an African Safari Holiday

Posted on April 27, 2014 at 10:54 am

The greatest time to go on an African safari is when the majority of the animals are easy to find and are in dense in numbers. Once you have decided you want to go on an African safari the next is to decide the location and the time of year you wish to go. The Seasons differ in East and Southern Africa which gives you the ability to really go whatever time of year you like as long as you are not to bothered where in Africa you go.

Kenya is always an extremely popular destination for an African Safari holiday. The best time to go on safari in Kenya is when the yearly migration of thousands of gnu’s, wildebeest and zebras descend on the Mara plains with many of their predators closely following them. If you want to see this amazing wildlife experience for yourself then you are best to plan your visit between  July and October.

Always read reviews before booking your Safari holiday

Posted on April 3, 2014 at 3:41 pm

When booking a holiday it is imperative that you read reviews about not only the location and accommodation where you are going to be stopping but also the tour operator you are booking with. This has never been truer than when booking a Safari holiday. Safari holidays can be a tremendously exciting break away, but can also turn in to a disaster if booked through the wrong company. Everything from building work going on at your hotel to lack of safety on the trip has to be a concern. If a safari holiday appears to be extremely cheap compared to others, there is probably a reason for that. Type in the company and the word “reviews” on the internet, to see what other holiday makers have said about them. There may always be unexpected issues when you go away and even the best tour operators sometimes cannot avoid these, but if you find that a lot of people are complaining about the same thing, it may be worth looking elsewhere.

Taking a Safari Holiday

Posted on February 28, 2014 at 10:28 am

A safari holiday can be a great experience, for both you and your family. A safari, in case you didn’t know, is when you travel through land with the intent to either witness or hunt animals in their natural habitat. The word safari originated in east Africa, where the Arabic word ‘safara’, meaning; to travel, was translated into safari, and has since developed to mean what it does today. The most commonly conducted safari nowadays, at least among western visitors to Africa, is to visit a wildlife reserve, and drive around the reserve viewing the various examples of wildlife on display. You can get an idea of what a safari is like by visiting a zoo in Britain where they offer safari style tours of their animals. This pales in comparison to a legitimate safari experience, where you can view animals in their natural habitat, with greater diversity than any zoo, and with real conflict taking place, something you will be unlikely to see with the different species being in separate sections so as to avoid conflict. Conflict is inevitable in the wild, and although distressing to many, it is a reality of existence in the wild.  If seeing real world wildlife outside of TV screen is something which interests you, you should give serious consideration to going on a safari.
