Safari holiday packing list
Posted on February 12, 2017 at 4:59 pm
Booking a safari holiday may be something that you have dreamed of for a while. Once the holiday is all booked and paid for you may start to focus on what you need to take with you. Many people panic a little about what they are going to need to take with them on a safari holiday, but your holiday tour operator should be able to talk you through a list. Below are a few points to remember when deciding on what to pack for your safari.
One important point to remember when packing, is pack light. There is no point in taking a load of stuff with you that you are not going to work. If you want to take extra luggage you will find that you will have to pay a premium for it.
Hats – It is vital to take sun hats with you when going on a safari holiday. Your hat needs to offer good sun coverage – especially round the back of your neck where you will often burn. It is also important that your hat is breathable. The chances are you will be wearing it for quite a period of time and you need to keep cool. It should be absorbent inside to take the sweat away from your face but it should also be waterproof on the outside as showers are frequent in Africa and often quite furious.

Creating memories with a safari holiday
Posted on October 31, 2016 at 9:52 pm
Going on a safari holiday can be enjoyable for people of all ages and can create happy memories that stay with you a lifetime. Because safari holidays tend not to be cheap, many people can only go on them for special occasions or for a once in a lifetime holiday and therefore it is even more important that you have a great time and take home many happy memories that you can treasure forever.
One of the most popular destinations for a safari holiday is in South Africa. Here the climate is perfect for vegetation and wildlife to thrive and going on a safari holiday here can often show you sights you had only ever seen on Tv or read about in books.
Capturing those special moments can allow you to take some of your safari trip home with you so it is essential that you have a good camera or phone in which you can take holiday snaps.

Fab at 50 safari holidays
Posted on September 30, 2016 at 9:55 pm
Safari holidays are great for people of any age but many people are choosing to go on one for their fiftieth birthday. Turning fifty is a huge dal for many people and often they want to celebrate it by doing something different. Safari holidays can be very expensive and often not something people can do as a usual summer holiday.
If you are thinking of going on a safari holiday be sure to check if you need to have any vaccinations before you go and to check that you are in good health. This is especially important if you are looking at doing a safari trip on foot or in extreme weather conditions.
Always take out a good insurance policy when going on a safari trip as many standard insurance policies do not cover safari trips and you will most likely need to upgrade to make sure you are protected.

The package offers assisted camping where tents and extra thick form mattresses are provided. During the holiday you can expect to travel around staying in a number of locations to get experience all Namibia has to offer.
With the currency in Namibia linked to the South Africa Rand, this holiday really does offer value for money with even a tight budget allowing you to participate in different activities.

Selective game hunting
Posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:31 pm
Believe it or not you can actually book to go on a safari hunting holiday in South Africa. The hunting rules are very strict and can only be done in certain locations. Only specific species are allowed to be hunted and the sport is regulated to ensure that no endangered animals are killed. Although this is the case, unfortunately there are still rouge companies out there that like to bend the rules, so if booking one of these types of holidays be sure that you research who you go with.
Hunting holidays are always going to be controversial as many people feel that it is not right to hunt animals like that for fun. These holidays cost a lot more than your standard safari holiday and if it is your first time in participating in one then you need to carefully consider all aspects of what you will be doing before booking one.

Immunisations for a safari holiday
Posted on November 30, 2015 at 12:14 am
If you are considering booking a safari holiday to South Africa then you will need to find out what immunisations you require. Courses or boosters required for going to South Africa include diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, and hepatitis A. This is particularly important if you are going out in to the bush or on a safari trip. Vaccines are sometimes advised for tuberculosis or hepatitis B although this is not always the case.
Checking with your nurse or doctor well in advance of travel is advised as you may not be allowed to enter the country should you not follow any information you have been given. Not only that, but if you do travel and contract an illness you may find that you are not covered by your travel insurance.
Malaria is a concern for many tourists wishing to visit Africa, you may be offered a course of tablets to be taken prior to your safari trip and for up to four weeks after your return.

Staying safe on a safari holiday
Posted on September 30, 2015 at 8:20 pm
Safari holidays are fast becoming one of the most popular activity holidays in the world. You can chose from many locations worldwide and can even chose if you do one in the snowy climates (such as a Husky Safari) or places where it is substantially warmer such as South Africa.
When going on any safari holiday, safety must be a main concern. The first way to stay safe is by booking with a reputable, well known company. You should be able to find reviews on all safari holiday companies just by doing a quick search online and seeing what other travellers have said.
When you arrive at a safari resort, you will be giving all the safety advise you need regarding where and when you should get in and out of the vehicle, what to do should you find yourself in trouble and what to do and what not to do in terms of feeding animals etc. Although the animals may look very cute and friendly, you must remember they are wild and therefore you should never let your guard down completely.

Activities for a Safari holiday
Posted on June 29, 2015 at 7:30 pm
Safari holidays are not all just about sitting in the back of a Jeep getting driven from place to place on the hunt for wildlife. There are such a wide range of Safari holidays and activities to do whilst there that the possibilities are almost endless.
If you have experienced a normal drive safari then why not try something a little different next time? Boat safaris and riding safaris are fast becoming very popular allowing you to have a totally different experience to any you have had before.
If you are ready for something a little more challenging then there are companies out there that will set up a trekking safari holiday for you, taking you in to some of the remotest parts on Africa on foot. These expedition style holidays are not for the faint hearted but the rewards are well worth the journey as you will see more sights and wildlife up close than you would on a driving safari.

Capturing your safari holiday – top tips
Posted on May 30, 2015 at 9:03 am
You’re bound to want to take plenty of photos whilst on safari and to get the most out of the snaps that you get there’s a few top tips to keep in mind.
Ensure your lens is clean, all that dusty sand can easily get caught on your camera lens so ensure you replace the lens cover between photos and if you get any debris on the lens very carefully wipe it with a specialist cloth to avoid scratching and damaging the lens.
Remember, safety first, yes you may have an opportunity for a great shot but you must always follow the instruction of your tour guide and if they say something is not safe then it’s really not worth the risk.
Back up all your photos each evening to some cloud storage, this way if anything should happen to your camera you will only lose the photos from that same day.
